Learn to Meditate

Learn how to meditate at our weekly classes in Manchester.

Each weekly meeting includes a period of guided meditation followed by a friendly and informal discussion around meditation and Buddhist thought and teachings that underpin the practice of Buddhist meditation. As you would expect, tea and biscuits are provided!

Classes are suitable for those with an existing meditation practice and for those completely new to Buddhism and meditation. Beginners are always very welcome.

Each meditation class explores:

  • what is meditation and how can it help?
  • meditation postures
  • mindfulness in daily life
  • Formless Meditation instruction
  • taking meditation deeper

Our next meeting is Wednesday 4th July 2018 at 7.30pm. We will practice Buddhist meditation together which will include instructions for newcomers and an opportunity to discuss the meditation afterwards and ask questions.

Newcomers and beginners are always welcome.

Meetings are held at:

Chorlton Central Church, Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton, Manchester M21 8BF.

Classes run until 9.30pm with a break in the middle for tea, biscuits and friendly chat.

In accordance with Buddhist principles we do not charge for our classes. We do welcome voluntary donations towards our running costs. Donations of £5-£6 per person are a suggested guideline for those on a living wage. A donation is not a requirement of attendance.

Classes are led by an experienced meditation practitioner from the Awakened Heart Sangha. In addition to years of experience as meditators, our class leaders have received extensive training in how to communicate meditation to others and in providing ongoing meditation guidance and mentoring and are authorised to transmit these meditation practices.
